NHMA Congressional Briefing: The Future of Diversity in Healthcare Professions

Rayburn House Office Building
Room 2075
Washington DC 20515
Event URL: website
Date/Time: March 16, 2017, 12:00pm-2:00pm

The healthcare workforce is not as diverse as it can be and many patients end up at a disadvantage. Health disparities have been traced to many causes, including language and cultural barriers that can deter minorities from seeking care. That is why we need a healthcare workforce that is culturally and linguistically competent.

The National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) has invited leaders from the National Medical Association, the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians and the Association of American Medical Colleges, as well as Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz (invited), Chair of the CHC Health Task force and Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Chair of the CAPAC Healthcare Task force.
